Clear Lake is a natural freshwater lake located in Linn County, Oregon, USA. It is situated in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, within the Willamette National Forest. The lake is known for its crystal-clear waters, which are fed by the cold and clear McKenzie River. Clear Lake is a popular destination for outdoor activities such as fishing, boating, hiking, and camping. It is home to a variety of fish species, including rainbow trout, brook trout, kokanee salmon, and mountain whitefish. The lake's waters are also popular for scuba diving and snorkeling, due to their clarity. The area surrounding Clear Lake is filled with hiking trails, including the popular McKenzie River Trail, which runs adjacent to the lake. The lake has three designated campgrounds, each with its own boat launch and fishing dock. In addition to its recreation opportunities, Clear Lake is also of geological significance. The lake sits atop a lava flow that was created over 3,000 years ago, which dammed the McKenzie River and created what is now known as Clear Lake. Visitors can explore the remnants of the lava flow by hiking the nearby lava fields.
